CUBA: Women’s Congressional Delegation

From June 26-July 1, 2014, CDA led a women’s delegation to Cuba for Members of Congress and civil society leaders. The delegation included Reps. Rosa DeLauro (CT-3), Anna Eshoo (CA-18), Robin Kelly (IL-2), Barbara Lee (CA-13), and Betty McCollum (MN-4) as well as Susan Adelman, Bettina Duval the founder of CALIFORNIALIST, former State Department official Michelle Manat, and Heather McGee of Demos. Participants visited a school for disabled children, and met with the director of the Núñez Jiménez foundation, female members of Cuba’s National Assembly, senior leaders of the Federation of Cuban Women, the Director of the National Center for Sex Education, Mariela Castro Espín, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
