Announcement Date: September 25, 2015

From September 25-October 1, 2015, CDA hosted a delegation of 19 women leaders for the Women Donor Network.  In Havana, the delegation heard from news correspondents based in Cuba, Cuban intellectuals, including Rafael Hernandez, Cuban entrepreneurs, and members of the Afro Cuban community and the Jewish community.  Participants enjoyed Cuban art forms at the Ludwig Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded in 1995 and funded by the Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation of Germany, the Lizt Alfonso Academy, a women-led dance troupe and school for young Cuban dancers, as well as the National Museum of Fine Arts. The delegation also participated in meetings with officials at the Center of Genetic and Biotechnological Engineering and the National Center for Sex Education. Outside of Havana, the delegation traveled to Cojimar, Viñales, and Pinar del Rio. While outside of Havana, the delegation had the opportunity to learn from the farming community by visiting both a family farm and a women-run farming cooperative.
