CUBA: Senate Chiefs of Staff Delegation

From October 14-18, 2015 CDA led a trip for ten chiefs of staff from the U.S. Senate to learn about social and economic issues on the island, the state of play of bilateral negotiations on issues such as civil aviation, law enforcement, and human rights, and prospects for expanded trade relations between the U.S. and Cuba. The visit included meetings with senior government officials in the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Trade, a visit to the Center for Genetic and Biotechnology Engineering, discussions with Cuban entrepreneurs, artists, and civil society leaders, and meetings with U.S. and third country diplomats. The delegation had the chance to talk with Cubans about their challenges and hopes for the future as bilateral relations with the United States continue to evolve.
