CUBA: U.S. Senate Delegation

From February 13-17, 2015, U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill (MO), Mark Warner (VA), and Amy Klobuchar visited Cuba on a trip organized by CDA. The delegation met with entrepreneurs, artists, and civil society leaders (including leaders of the Jewish and Catholic communities) to understand Cubans’ reactions to the prospects of closer relations with the U.S. following the historic announcements by Presidents Obama and Castro on December 17, 2014. The visit also included meetings with senior government officials and the first trip by a delegation of U.S. elected officials to the Port of Mariel.
